    Practice Principal

    Dr James Luttrell is a Launceston born General Practitioner and the Practice Principal of East Launceston Medical Centre.

    James completed his medical training at the University of Tasmania, graduating in 2012. He went on to work at the Launceston General Hospital before gaining further experience across New South Wales and South Australia.

    After nine years away, he returned home to Tasmania in 2021 to raise his young family and continue his career in general practice within the local community.

    James enjoys all areas of general practice, with particular interests in sexual health, dermatology and skin cancer medicine. As Practice Principal, he is focused on continuing the strong foundations of the practice while leading its next phase as a modern, patient centred clinic.

    Outside of work, James enjoys spending time with his children, exploring the Tasmanian wilderness, participating in sport, and gardening.

    Dr Chris Luttrell is a Tasmanian born General Practitioner who has been practicing in Launceston for more than 30 years. He was the proud Practice Principal of Tremaur Medical Centre, where he built a reputation for delivering high quality, consistent care to the local community.

    Chris has extensive experience across all areas of general practice, with particular interests in asthma management and allergies, including hay fever, food allergies and eczema. He also provides advice on immunotherapy where appropriate.

    As he transitions into Part time general practice, Chris is looking forward to a more flexible schedule, balancing occasional clinical work with fishing trips, 4WD adventures, and spending time wrangling his grandchildren.

    He has now passed the reins to his son, James Luttrell, as the practice enters its next chapter as East Launceston Medical Centre.

    Dr Singh joined the Tremaur Medical Centre in August 2024 and continues to care for patients as part of East Launceston Medical Centre.

    Originally from Nepal, Dr Singh completed her medical degree in 2008 before moving to Australia and settling in Launceston in 2014. She went on to work at the Launceston General Hospital for nearly 10 years, gaining extensive clinical experience across a range of settings.

    Dr Singh is currently completing her General Practice training and is committed to ongoing professional development. She enjoys all areas of general practice, with particular interests in mental health, women’s health, and children’s health.

    Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, baking and cooking, exploring the outdoors, and shopping.

    Dr Singh consults on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays and is currently welcoming new patients.

    Dr Cameron McClure is originally from Brisbane, where he completed his medical training at the University of Queensland. Since moving to Tasmania in 2016 he has worked both at the Launceston General Hospital and within community General Practice. He is a Specialist General Practitioner and holds a Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

    Cameron enjoys all areas of General Practice but has special interests in Chronic Disease Management, Paediatrics and Urgent Care. He is passionate about providing comprehensive, patient centred care to individuals and families across all stages of life.

    Outside of work, Cameron values spending family time with his wife and three young children and making the most of Tasmania’s lifestyle.

    Cameron feels privileged to be able to provide care to the Launceston community.

    Dr Michael Smallwood has been caring for patients in Launceston since 2007 and is part of the team at East Launceston Medical Centre.

    Michael graduated from Flinders University in 1995 and completed further training in Darwin, the Central Coast of New South Wales, and South Gippsland in Victoria. He moved to Launceston with his family in 2007 and undertook training as an anaesthetist.

    Alongside his work in general practice, Michael works as a GP anaesthetist and with Ambulance Tasmania’s Aeromedical Retrieval Service.

    His interests include minor procedures, emergency medicine, and managing complex health conditions.

    Outside of work, Michael enjoys fishing, diving, bushwalking, and travelling.

    Dr Smallwood consults on Tuesdays.

    Dr Amanda Clifford is a Launceston local who enjoys caring for her community and raising her own family in the region.

    She graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2013 and completed her internship and residency at the Launceston General Hospital, where she developed a strong interest in women’s and children’s health. She went on to complete her Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2018.

    She has particular interests in antenatal care, women’s health, paediatrics, and mental health, while enjoying all aspects of general practice. Amanda is known for her friendly and approachable style and values building long term relationships with her patients and their families.

    Outside of work, she is a mum to three young children and enjoys spending time at the beach, exploring with her family, and getting out for a walk with the family dog.

    Dr Philip Cassidy has worked as a General Practitioner in the Launceston region for many years and has a strong understanding of the needs of the local community.

    He has special interests in men’s health, general surgery, emergency medicine, and minor procedures, including the removal of skin lesions.

    In addition to his work at East Launceston Medical Centre, Philip also works as a locum GP, travelling across Tasmania to support more isolated communities.

    Dr Cassidy consults Monday to Friday and is available for appointments throughout the week.

    Dr Aras joined the practice in 2014 and continues to care for patients as part of East Launceston Medical Centre.

    After completing her medical training in Germany, she moved to Australia where she has been working as a GP for over a decade.

    Sandra enjoys caring for both children and adults across all areas of general practice, providing thoughtful and comprehensive care to her patients.

    Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and relaxing with a good book.

    Dr Aras consults on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and is currently welcoming new patients.
